We are in sunny Cairns well not always sunny but warm. The temperature here goes from around 20⁰C overnight to 25⁰C during the day. We are getting around in shorts and t-shirts, the locals are in their jackets and scarves.
We are staying with Pam’s son and family. Friday we had a trip up the range to the picturesque mountain retreat of Kuranda Village, 25km northwest of Cairns and is surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest.
Lachy at Kuranda Markets
You can catch a train or Skyrail up to the village but we drove up. We drove through there again yesterday and went on to a village called Tolga where we found a galley and café. The gallery featured local artists mainly in wood but ceramics as well. The food was heavenly it started to rain but still it was a pleasant drive back via the Gilles Highway. This is a very twisty road back to Cairns via Gordonvale a must for any motorcyclist We Had to contend ourselves with a Yaris hire car. Still it was a great journey.
Today we enjoyed a family breakfast at a café at Yorkies Knob. Tammy’s youngest daughter, Nahany, works there on the weekends. The food and coffee were fabulous but the services by Nahany was brilliant, she is such a hard worker. Tonight it is a BBQ with some friends so it’s all go here.
