The drive to Exmouth is another 350Km trip with the only service at Minilya Roadhouse
A cattle truck pulled in while we were at the roadhouse.
As you can see it is 4 trailers long, has 74 wheels. They are on the open highway and we passed a few 3 and 4 trailer road trains but so far we haven’t ended up behind one this trip. A second one rolled in just as we were about to leave.
The road to Exmouth is punctuated with termites mounds these rise 6 to 8 feet high and about 4 feet across the base. The termite colony builds these mounds for ventilation of the nest below.
The other feature is the eagles and we were fortunate enough to see one strike its prey from flight. Its legs were down ready to pounce then it went into a dive catching his prey.
Arriving in Exmouth we drove down the main street but had to stop to allow 2 emus to cross in front of us. I didn’t have the camera ready but I’m sure I’ll see them around town again. While driving around Denham we had the same problem with emus crossing the street and I’m sure they have right of way.
